Lloyd joined Trinity Mirror in 1994 as a sub-editor on the Daily Mirror. He has held several positions including, Deputy Chief Sub-Editor, Assistant Night Editor, Night Editor and Assistant Editor.
He became Editor of the Sunday People in 2008, and then editor of the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror in 2012, before being appointed to editor-in-chief later that year.
In May 2018, Trinity Mirror announced a plan to rebrand as Reach Plc, following completion of the acquisition of the UK publishing assets of Northern & Shell, including the Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star and OK!,
Lloyd's current role of Group Editor-in-Chief now gives him editorial responsibility for all the national and regional news brands across the Reach Plc platform (including local titles such as the Manchester Evening News and Liverpool Echo).
Reach Plc is now the UK's largest newspaper group, publishing 240 regional papers in addition to the nationals Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, The People, Express and Daily Star as well as the Scottish Sunday Mail and Daily Record to name but a few.
