In August, 2017 the government of Myanmar launched a brutal crackdown on the Rohingya in Rakhine State. The world saw horrific images of persecution and mass displacement. Al Jazeera photo-journalist Showkat Shafi visited the refugee camps in neigbouring Bangladesh soon after the makeshift tents were hastily erected. Six months later he revisited those same camps to speak with survivors and put a face to their story.
