In 2018 The Times campaigned against the use of gagging clauses in government contracts, revealing hundreds of controversial agreements, causing an outcry in the charities sector and forcing Theresa May to review the policy. The campaign was made possible by a collaboration between the paper’s investigative and data teams involving computational analysis of more than 38,000 documents.
