This category will seek to assess a websites' opinion and editorial sections. The award may go to a specific blog as well as the overall blogging content of a site. Judges will be looking for outstanding analysis, insights as well as wit.

Best Designed Site

For this category, judges will be looking for simple, logical layout that has been driven by innovation and creativity. The successful websites should be engaging, exciting and easy to use.

Breaking News Story of the Year

What was the best story broken online last year – was it by your website? This category rewards the best online news story of 2017/2018 with the jury looking for the stand out news pieces from the last year.

App of the Year

This category will celebrate the most innovative app, which has been produced for the likes of an iPad, iPhone or Android platforms. The winner will be innovative, dynamic, interactive, engaging and user friendly. Log in/download details should be provided so judges can experience the app for themselves.

Podcast of the Year

Podcasts are growing in popularity and mainstream media is continually adopting the medium as a way of expanding on its content to reach a whole new audience. But which podcast has been the brightest beacon within this emerging medium over the last 12 months? The jury will be seeking to award exactly that.

National News Site of the Year

This category is for national news sites. Judges will assess how the site delivers its editorial mission, serves its audiences and harness the power of the web to deliver a strong and innovative proposition. News-led journalism is an example of what can be entered here.

Specialist/Local News Site of the Year

This category is for specialist and regional or local news sites. Judges will assess how the site delivers its editorial mission, serves its audiences and harness the power of the web to deliver a strong and innovative proposition.

Editorial Campaign of the Year

What was the most effective online campaign run by an editorial team last year? The jury will be looking to find the campaign that achieved the greatest success in attaining its goals. Campaigning or investigative journalism is an example of what can be entered here.

Native Advertising Campaign of the Year

Rewarding digital native advertising solutions or campaigns, which not only show great results but also show exciting innovation and stand out creativity.

Commercial Innovation of the Year

So who pays for all this journalism? This category seeks to recognise that many websites are in the business of making money. Entries here may be an innovative directory, some form of knowledge bank, strategy for driving subscriptions or pay walls.
